Withymoor Colts 1 Halas Hawks 5
Halas U16s East girls expected a tough match against Withymoor,
with only 10 players being available and this proved to be the
case in the first half. Halas had the majority of possession, but
were caught on the break on several occasions by a strong
Withymoor forward line. Only goalkeeper, and vice-captain,
Elizabeth Cullwick prevented Halas from falling behind. Olivia
Emerson finally opened the scoring, after Halas had gone close on
several occasions, sometimes drawing good saves from their keeper.
Unfortunately the lead didn't last long, as Withymoor finally made
one of their counter attacks count just before the break.
In the second half, Halas switched formation and continued to
dominate possession, subduing the Withymoor breaks with extra
bodies in midfield. Halas continued to create chances, with Jenny
Watkins going close on several occasions. Kym Bennett finally
restored the lead, with a close range effort midway through the
second half, before Lydia Bradley added a third. Rebekah Trevis-Smith
rounded off a superb personal performance with two well taken
goals.
