Kewford win on penalties
This girl's under 10's league cup final saw Halas pitted against the
League
Champions and Merit Shield winners, Kewford, who had won all their
previous 17
Games. The early exchanges were very even with few chances being created
by either
side, due predominantly to the work rate, skill and tenacity of Sophie
Blount,
Esme Moran and Mia Davies in the Halas defence. As the half wore on
however,
Kewford began to exert more pressure, bringing some fine saves from
Georgia
Hanson although with Amy Plimmer, Louise Edgerton and Abigail Gennard
combining
well, Halas did create a couple of chances themselves. Kewford continues
to have the majority of possession but failed to turn this into goals.
Both periods of extra time were evenly contested affairs but neither
team could break the deadlock. The resultant penalty shoot out saw both
goalkeepers pull off good saves but it was Kewford who won the trophy by
three penalties to two.
Gornal 1 Halas Hawks 2
The U14s girls were a player short in their game against Gornal and had
to pull out all the stops in their 2-1 win. An excellent team
performance led to goals from Bethany Hall and Sophie Leak.

Halas Hawks 15 Withymoor West 1
The U8s East put on a tremendous performance against Withymoor West with
man of the match, Daniel Kelly, hitting a double hat trick in a 15-1
win. Jake Gilson got four with the rest coming from Matthew Hancox (3),
Nick Clayton-Philips and Daniel Deeley.
Halas Hawks 6 Rio Saints 2
Halas had never beaten Rio Saints but were well worth their 6-2 win and
showed how much the team have improved this season. Halas got off to a
bright start with a James Williams goal in the first minute which was
followed by two further goals from Williams and one each for Alex
Gardener, Lewis Sidebottom and Harry Vine
Halas Hawks 4 Quinton 9
The U12s entertained Quinton Eagles and in a match that was closer than
the scoreline suggests, they went down 9-4. Goals came from Luke Beatrup
(2), Luke Patton and Joe Ward with man of the match going to Danny
Hodges.
Halas Hawks 4. Pensnett Panthers 1.
The U14s scored probably the fastest goal of the season, coming in under
10 seconds of the kick off scored by Josh Spencer. Pensnett then proved
to be stubborn in defence but still let in further goals from Alex
Dudley (2) and Naiem Yasaf.
